Protest With The Heroes

I’ve been to Santa Monica a couple of times. Only briefly while visiting LA. One place thankfully that I didn’t go to when I was there was The Hump Restaurant. Apparently they are now serving Whale meat. Gross. NY Times revealed a few days ago that the restaurant is serving this illegal meat to diners. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/09/us/09sushi.html

So it’s nice to hear that punk rock frontman Zoli Teglas of the punk/rock band Pennywise will be protesting at the restaurant this Friday, March 12th (ie. tomorrow) with Sea Shepherd Volunteer Music & Outreach Coordinator Kurt Lieber, and Grace Ko, director of operations for Pelican Rescue Team. This protest will take place during the lunchtime rush to educate patrons in Santa Monica that endangered whale species are being consumed at the restaurant. Operators of The Hump could at most be fined $20,000 and serve one year in prison for violating the Marine Mammal Protection Act.
